Bible Question: WHAT DOES HYSSOP MEAN IN PSALMS 51:7? |
Bible Answer: Hyssop was some kind of plant mentioned several times in scripture. No one knows for certain exactly what plant it might have been. However, it was used to sprinkle the blood of the Passover lamb (Exodus 12:22) on the lintels of their doors. Certainly this Psalm is harkening back to this event. Furthermore, it must necessarily be looking forward to the cleansing power of Christ's shed blood on Calvary. |
