Bible Question: Why do some denominations Baptise babies |
Bible Answer: Hi, kangulo! There is no Biblical mandate that requires that only adults (or children from x age) be baptized. In the old Covenant the symbolic entrance into the children of Israel was circumcision... Since Jesus did away with the symbolic values of the Mosaic Law, baptism bacame the new "public" symbol of entrance into the kingdom of God. How logical is it to wait till a person is 30 (or 21 or 18 or 14...) years old in order to begin his/her walk in Christ? As Acts 16:33 attests the whole household was brought into the Lord--how said it would have been for the children to have been excluded! God Bless! Angel |
