Bible Question (short): Was it a man after God's own heart |
Question (full): How could David be considered a man after God's own heart if he committed adultery during most part of his life? Matthew 19:9 "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery." David, in conformity with the usage of eastern kings, but in opposition to Deut. 17:17, multiplied wives to himself besides Abigail, Ahinoam, and Michal: Maachah daughter of Talmai king of Geshur, whom probably he took in his raid (1 Sam. 27:8), Haggith, Abital, Eglah 1 Kings 15:5 because David did what was right in the sight of the LORD, and had not turned aside from anything that He commanded him all the days of his life, except in the case of Uriah the Hittite. Revelation 22:16 "I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright morning star." Why does the Bible give so much importance for an adulterer? Is adultery sin or not? Imagine a pastor or any other member of a church with two wives. Finder |
