AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 13:13 ¶ Now Paul and his companions sailed from Paphos and came to Perga in Pamphylia; but John [Mark] left them and went back to Jerusalem. |
Bible Question: Why did John leave Barnabas and Paul and go back to Jerusalem? Do we know anything other than speculation? Why do some people think it was such a big mistake on John's part? Was it? Did John have a disagreement with Paul? Or was it just Barnabas and Paul arguing ABOUT John(in Acts 15)? Other than the mention of John Mark again in Colossians 4:10 and 2 Timothy 4:11, what else do we know about him after he leaves Paul and Barnabas? (I think he was Barnabas' cousin, right?) |
Bible Answer: Why did John leave Barnabas and Paul and go back to Jerusalem? Do we know anything other than speculation? The Scriptures doesn't say so we don't know and any offered reason is speculation. Why do some people think it was such a big mistake on John's part? Probably because of the division seen in Acts 15:37-38. Was it? Hard to say because of it God now had two missionary teams instead of one. So in that sense it probably was for the best. Did John have a disagreement with Paul? Or was it just Barnabas and Paul arguing ABOUT John(in Acts 15)? From all indications the arguement was between Paul and Barnabus over John leaving. Here are the Bible references to him Acts 12:12 Acts 12:25 Acts 13:5 Acts 13:13 Acts 15:37-38 Colossians 4:10 2 Timothy 4:11 Philemon 1:24 1 Peter 5:13 EdB |
