Bible Question: In Acts 12:2, we learn that King Herod had James, the brother of John put to death by the sword. He then proceeded to seize Peter (v. 3). However, after Peter is miraculously released from prison, he meets with those who had been praying for him at the home of Mary the mother of John, and asks them in verse 17 to "Tell James and the brothers about this". Which James is being referred to in v.17? Surely not the one who had been killed? |
Bible Answer: Gye Nyame The James referred to here is James the brother of Jesus who has now become the leader of the church in Jerusalem. Matthew 13:55 Is this not the carpenter's son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? Acts 15:13 And after they had become silent, James answered, saying, "Men and brethren, listen to me: James 1:1 James, a bondservant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad: Greetings.
