Bible Question (short): What is the story of cornelius?

Question (full): Hello, I asked the questions yesterday concerning the church of christ. Basically, my entirely family on my moms side attend the church of christ,of course you know they believe that baptizm saves you and the only way you are able to go to heaven in through the church of christ. Unfortunately, God has showed me a different light. I became a christian in college through campus outreach. I really have a ton of questions but I will limit them. What is the story of Cornelius? Where did the church of christ orignate? Why do teh church of christ believes everybody else is going to hell except them? Why do the church of chirst only sing acapella? Does it mention anything in the bible just to sing acapella hymns? Thanks, Marcus
