Bible Question: Was Mathias in Acts realy an apostle and what are the qualifications of being an apostle? |
Bible Answer: Yes, Mathias was an apostle that took after Judas Iscariot who betrayed our Lord Jesus Christ. After Judas' death, the disciples were therefore eleven in number and they needed a someone to take Judas' position,Acts 1 v 20, then two choices were made- Joseph and Mathias, and Mathias was chosen by the direction of our Lord. So immediately, Mathias became a member of the apostle. To my understanding of scripture, an apostle must have the following qualifications: 1 Must be born again 2Cor. 5v 17 2 He must be filled with the Holy Spirit Acts 1v8 Holy Spirit is the number one element that the apostle must possess, when the Holy Spirit is in you, you will be able to heal the sick, speak in other tongues Acts 2 v 4, and do so many great wonders in the great name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 3. Must be God-fearing 4. Must have passion for the things of God, that is, worshipping in the house of God must be your priority. 5. Must be ready to serve God with all your might and power no matter the challenges, pains or persecutions. You maut have the spirit of perseverance dwelling inside you deeply. |
