NASB | John 6:37 "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 6:37 "All that My Father gives Me will come to Me; and the one who comes to Me I will most certainly not cast out [I will never, never reject anyone who follows Me]. |
Bible Question: In John 6:37 is the phrase "and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out." just a furthur explanation of the earlier phrase "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me," or is it referencing a person not included in the group that the Father gives to the Son? |
Bible Answer: IMHO, the two phrases refer to the same group. The first phrase describes the manner of coming, I.E. given by the Father. The second phrase then describes how those who have been given are securely retained. Note the "and" that conjoins the phrases, and also note the similar descriptions as those who come/one who comes. Note in v.45 that those who come are those who have heard and learned from the Father - single group. See also v.65 that specifically states that no one can come unless specifically granted this by the Father. |
