Subject: Have you chosen this king? 1Sam 12:13 |
Bible Note: Hi gracefull, Thank you for getting involved in this meditation and thank you for speaking of Galatians and the things of the Spirit. Although Jesus was born a king we serve Him as the King of kings for as you say, He is King in our hearts. He died on the cross as the King of the Jews but we, Gentiles and Jews, have faith in the same Spirit. Galatians 3:13, "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us--for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"--in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to Gentiles, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit/ through faith." Galatians 4:5, "But when the fulness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, in order that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit/ of His son into our hearts,..." Galatians 5:5, "For we through the Spirit/, by faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness." Galatians 6:8, "For the one who sows to his own flesh shall from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit shall from the Spirit/ reap eternal life." See also 1 Cor 6:17 and 2 Cor 4:18. So I think we had many of the same thoughts as we studied the Scriptures. I thank you for Galatians 4:9 because when I looked at it in my new NASB copy I found that some marginal notes had been added. Thus, I was given one more comparison reference pair. Galatians 4:9, "But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be KNOWN BY God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things,..." 1 Corinthians 8:3, "but if anyone loves God, he is KNOWN BY Him." I also was led to compare the "elementary things" of Galatians 4:9 with the "elementary principles of the world" of Colossians 2:20. Thank your for your thoughts. We know and love God and have died with Christ and I trust that having been raised up with Christ/ we will keep seeking the things above. From the heart, Ray |
