Bible Question: Are there any verses that say that Jesus baptized anyone? If so, which verses are they? |
Bible Answer: Hi Skip, This verse isn't a reference to water baptism per se but it is a real baptism performed by Jesus. Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. I was taught that “everyone, individually,” will receive a baptism by Jesus. As born again believers in Christ we are baptized with the Spirit. On the other hand, all unbelievers will receive a baptism of fire at some point in their future. Those are two very antithetical baptisms but the very same Jesus. It’s interesting in the original language of the New Testament that the word BAPTIZO is in the "indicative mood", which means it is a certainty and will be a “reality”. Enjoy the forum, CDBJ |
