Bible Question: When you look into the Holy Spirit, what evidence do you see? |
Bible Answer: Hi Pastor K, John 3:10 Jesus said, "Are you a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?" He further stated "you receive not our witness" I'm not sure where you are headed so in the context of your full question, I will share what I see scripturally. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the God head, or Trinity..I John 5:7..There are three that bear record (testimony) in heaven, the Father (God the Father). the Word (Jesus, who is God the Living Word), and the Holy Ghost (God the Holy Ghost): and these three are one. That they are one is not the question to ask, but how are they one. I've heard for years by some that God plays three different parts, or wears three different hats, in different settings but is one, suggesting that God is in essence one physical body. That is not scriptural. Jesus, our ultimate teacher and example, explained that God is not like a physical body, John 4:24, but rather, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him MUST worship him in spirit and in truth." That one truth eliminates the theory of God doing three jobs in one physical body. The second evidence of this fact Jesus stated in John 17:11 in his prayer just before the crucifiction, "keep through thine own name those whom you have given me, (why?) that they may be ONE as we are (one)." If mankind is to be one as he and the Father are one it has to be in some other form than one physical body. Otherwise all mankind would be one big ball, with millions of heads, arms, and legs sticking out of the ball in all directions. That cannot be the oneness he was talking about if we are to be "one" as he and the Father are "one". Evidence three, Gen 2:24, When Adam stated, "a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall cleave to his wife and they shall be ONE flesh." We know the statement "one flesh" didn't mean they, each individual person, would melt together and have two heads, four arms, and four legs, but would be joined together by covenant. Each of them being single units, not melted blobs. Gen 2:23 The covenant, "Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of Man." God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost, made the whole plan for mankind, "before" they created one grain of sand or one blade of grass. God has never had a "whoops, I didn't know that, kind of day." Gen 1:27-28, Jesus never tells mankind to do anything he does not practice himself, or that he does not want mankind to do themselves. Luke 14:28 he tells us, " which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first, and counts the cost, whether he has enough to finish it?" If he tells us to do that, we automatically know that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost, had everything planned "before" the world was even started, and they knew they had abundant supply to finish what they started, in fact more abundantly! John 10:10 God had the order of appearance arranged. The Old Testament is the Revelation of God the Father to the Israelites, and to the world system, with the promise of the Messiah to come. The New Testament, particularly the four Gospels, is Jesus, God the Son, leveling the playing field of all of mankind, eliminating the "partition", "alienation", and hopelessness of being"without God in this world" to both the Jew and Gentiles. Eph 2:11-16 and reconciled both (Jew and Gentile all of the people of the earth) to God, making "One" new man, called the church. Eph 2:18 For through him (Jesus, the baptizer in the Holy Ghost John 1:33-36)we both (Jew and Gentile) have access by one (Holy) Spirit unto (God) the Father. This is the scriptural order, ordained of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost, before the foundation of the world. I trust this was what you were asking. Always In Christ, C.S.M. |
