Bible Question:
I believe that you have to be baptized, but I believe when you accept Christ as Lord you are saved, then it is a command to be baptized. The order is Repent, Accept, and be baptized. 1. Repent- Sorry for your sins, turn in another direction 2.Accept- Ask Jesus to come into your heart,I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. At this point I believe you are saved. If you are not around water you can't be baptized, and if you died at this point you would not go to Hell, but you should get baptized as soon as you can 3.Be Baptized- The third command, but you are all ready saved. |
Bible Answer: The Bible says that we are made acceptable in the beloved. No where does it say accept Christ and you will be saved. John the Baptist brought the knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of there sins,( he preached the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins Luke 3:3). The Apostle Paul giving his testimony in Acts 22:16 said he was told to arise and be baptised, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord (Jesus). 1Cor.15 the gospel that saves us is the death, burial and ressurection of Christ, we die in repentance, we are buried with him in water baptism and are raised into our new life receiving the promise of the Holy Ghost. |
