Subject: Who or what is the (s)Spirit? |
Bible Note: Hi Searcher, Good morning to you. I surmise that your answer to my question would be 6. I hear you saying that God the Father gave the Holy Spirit to Jesus. My question then would be "How much of the Holy Spirit did God give to the Son?" The NKJ says that "God does not give the Spirit by measure." The marginal note in my NASB says [Lit, for He does not give the Spirit by measure]. The second question would revolve around who is doing the giving. The NASB reads, "For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the Spirit without measure." Therefore the "He" is talking about "the One whom God has sent" and also about "God who gives the Spirit without measure." So is Jesus (who is God) giving the Spirit without measure? If it is Jesus that is doing the giving, who is He giving to? Himself? KJ, "for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him." From the heart, Ray |
