Bible Question: But baptism can't save us. So why does one need to be baptized in order to get into heaven? |
Bible Answer: Songbird, That depends on how you view baptism. If you separate the water and the Holy Spirit, you end up with your assertion. But 1 Peter 3:18-22 and Titus 3:5 have another view, as did the early Church and many churches today. But if you type baptism into the Quick Search box on the right you will find very extensive arguments for both positions which have been discussed many times here on the forum. God can and does work outside His sacraments, but He gave us His sacraments as the normative manner of receiving His grace. At least that is what I see in Scripture. Emmaus |
