Bible Note: Inmyheart Before you get too dogmatic about Paul's skull being crushed understand there were many ways to stone a person. Understanding the method you described has been shown to be the least used method. In some incidents the person was drugged from the city to nearby cliffs where they were tossed over and then stoned. In other incidents the person was surrounded by a mob and stones were thrown from all directions. In more formal cases after a trial of such the person was taken to where garbage was placed and stoned there. Most often however a mob mentality prevailed and the person was chased with stones until outside the city then eventually killed with intensified stoning. Therefore to say definitively that Paul's skull was crushed is impossible. You never explained Paul’s advice to Timothy to take wine for his sickness. Nor do you mention Paul himself mentioning that he preached in sickness. Why not? Your right, all sickness is healed by God but many times that healing only comes when we go home to be with the Lord. By the way that is our final destination and where we belong to begin with. Hebrews 11:13-16 All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. [14] For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own. [15] And indeed if they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return. [16] But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for He has prepared a city for them. Let's not make God be ashamed to be called our God. EdB |
