Bible Question (short): explain Deut 6:4 |
Question (full): Aixen7z4... In your post you said... Jesus is God. His Father is God. The Holy Spirit is God. But they are three separate beings. How would you then explain the foundational belief of the Israelites that set them apart from the rest of the nations in that they worshipped one God known as the One True God, Jehovah, Yahweh, etc. The very first thing that God had Moses tell the people was: "Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one! See Deut. 6:4 This is a foundational doctrine that Christians also believe and also sets us apart from other religions with the excepton of Islam which is also monotheistic...we serve one God not three. Another user gave some analogies in an attempt to explain the plurality of God, but a better one would be a man or a woman since we are made in the image of God. We are body, soul and spirit. A man can be a son, a husband, a father, etc. He functions differently as each, but is still the same person. I would suggest a word study on Spirit. Also, take special note of John 14:17-19. When promising the Spirit of Truth, he clearly states it is him. vs 18 "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Because of the lateness of the hour, this is all I will say for now. As some like to say... Speaking the truth in love, Bows44 |
