Bible Question: What is the signifigance of the napkin being set apart from the linens and that it was rolled up or folded? Is there a clue to it ? |
Bible Answer: Greetings, The handkerchief or face cloth laying seperately from the rest of the linen cloths showed 2 things. First the orderly arrangement of everything in the tomb marks the absence of haste and was plainly the effect of thought, care, and composure; and clearly showed, that the body was not taken away in a hurry, or by thieves, since everything lay in such order and decency; and which was done, either by our Lord himself, or by the angels. The second thing that it showed is a contrast between the resurrection of Lazarus and that of Jesus. Where as Lazarus came forward from the grave wearing his gravecloths Jesus was glorified and was able to pass through the gravecloths much the same way as He later entered the locked room. prayon |
