Bible Question: Is Jesus still a man or was a man? |
Bible Answer: Hi Santo, I believe that this second Adam, Jesus, was a Man and the God/Man. I believe that Estelle is not accurate in saying that He came in the form of man. Philippians 2:5ff says, "Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men." The attitude that Jesus took was one of a bond-servant, and He was made in the likeness of men. Although this Man existed in the form of God, He was obedient as one who serves. For verse 8 I would capitalize "Man". "And being found in appearance as a Man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore also God highly exalted Him..." In Romans 5:15b speaks of "the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ..." Romans 5:17, "For if by the transgression of the one, [Adam] death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ." Jesus came in the likeness of men but was a Man. From the heart, Ray |
