Bible Note: Hi, jubimay... Think of the gospels as sermons, rather than historical narratives or biographical accounts. Although they are those things, they are more. A gospel is a unique genre of literature. We define them as a kerygmatic record of the words and actions of the Lord Jesus Christ. The only one of the gospels written in a chronological fashion was Luke -- see Luke 1:3 the phrase "orderly account." of the four gospels it, alone, was written in a fashion that we Westerners would think of as an historical account.
