Bible Question (short): Help re. Jesus' words "it is finished". |
Question (full): For many years I interpreted Jesus' statement, "It is finished", to mean that His suffering was over. I thought that it was merely a statement of finality, regarding Him, personally. I have been told that the original Hebrew, (Greek?) which he uttered meant that the task is completed, that task being our salvation from sin. This is the only information I have on something which is so incredibly profound, as compared to my original interpretation of His statement. I would appreciate any and all assistance which will further my knowledge and understanding of Jesus "dying" words. Thank you and blessings, gbarnett |
