Bible Question: in what ways was Pilate guilty of treason although Jesus was the One who received the sentence? |
Bible Answer: Is "treason" the right word, C? Pilate was a Roman citizen. In sentencing Jesus he committed no treason against Rome. So, I don't understand your question. Now, Pilate was guilty of sin. Jesus said it in this way: "Jesus answered, "You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above; for this reason he who delivered Me to you has the greater sin."" (John 19:11) So, although Pilate had sinned against Jesus (in knowingly condemning an innocent man), Jesus said that those who delivered him to Pilate had the greater sin. Peace, |
