Bible Question: What might God want us to understand from this account? Is it significant that the slave was identified? |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Matt 26:51-54, Mark 14:47-49, Luke 22:49-51, John 18:10-11 ... Mommapbs, greetings. His name is mentioned only by John. Peter cut off his right ear in the garden of Gethsemane (John 18:10-11). While John doesn't mention it, Jesus cured it with a touch and admonished Peter. He said that Scriptures needed to fulfilled (Matt 26:51-54, Mark 14:47, Luke 22:49-51) Malchus is not mentioned again in the Bible, so I am not sure why John mentions his name. I think the God wants us to understand to not do it our way ... we need to let God's will to be done. We don't always know what is right. Searcher |
