Bible Question: Is it any wonder that the world doesn't believe--with all the divisions between those calling themselves followers of Christ? |
Bible Answer: I believe the root of division is a lack in spirituality. In the book of 1 COR. Paul addresses the Churc, by the way as the Church of the Living God even with all the division. BUt he mentions something rather interesting in 1 Corinthians 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. And one of the problems in the Church was division as many have mentioned. However, in Chapter 12 when he starts off on the spiritual matters then what does he address? He address the body of Christ. A wonderful parallel to Eph. 4 I believe it is only when we have dealt with all the canality that we can appreciate the unity-which is in the Spirit. One issue dealt with in 1 COR 5 is was unrepentant sinners as in v.11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. These matters are serious yet few are bold enough to stand for them and then they are derided! The worst persecution is by the church itself. We fight against what we do not see. God Bless. |
