AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 17:11 "I am no longer in the world; yet they are still in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, so that they may be one just as We are. |
Bible Question: What was the name given to Jesus referring to here? He has just called His Father Holy, could it be Holy? I'm thinking back in Ezekiel 36:16-27 about God's Holy name. Just some thoughts rattling around my head, thanks to anyone for their thoughts. |
Bible Answer: Pilgrim2eternity, He (Jesus) said to His Father, "keep them in Your Name". The name which you have given Me. Matt 1:20 But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. Matt 1:21 "She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins." The angel of the Lord told Joseph to call His name "Jesus". This is the name of the Father, "Jesus". Which He has given to His Son. The name given to Jesus, is Jesus. In the great commission, it is a directive to baptize in the name of the Father , Son, and Holy Spirit. Is it possible that this name is "Jesus"? "...that they may be one even as We are." "...and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins." wordoer |
