Bible Question: what is the meaning to the words of the lord's prayer? |
Bible Answer: I have come to consider that 'The Lord's Prayer' i.e. the prayer that The Lord prayed, is actually contained and magnificently outlined in [John 17 --the entire chapter]. That which we usually designate as such i.e. [Matthew 6:9-13] seems to me to be a recommendation from Him, in terms of a broad outline, to help, shall we say, the focus of our praying. This would seem to be confirmed by previous verses [Matthew 6:7,8 . .Do not pray by idle rote like pagans (Moffatt trans.) or in the NKJV ..But when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen . . . I believe there is a great wealth of understanding to be found in Jesus' prayer to His Father [John Chapter 17] |
