Bible Note: Hi, MJH... How about: Because Christ's ascension was a necessary component to establishing the Kingdom upon earth? Christ's birth, life, transfiguration, death, resurrection, and ascension is, if you will, the "whole package." After atoning for our sins, Christ sat down at the right hand of God (Hebrews 1:3) -- where His duties as our High Priest continues (Hebrews 8:1). Only when that is fully implemented, does the Holy Spirit come to dwell in men (1 Corinthians 3:16). Perhaps, unless those priestly duties are performed (Hebrews 9:24), we could not experience the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. In Him, Doc |
