Bible Question: what part did the holy spirit play in Christ's ascension |
Bible Answer: Hi ministermay, We don't have any direct (recorded) involvment of the Holy Spirit in Christs' ascension. And, actually there is very little about the ascension in the Gospels. However, we do know what Christ foretold in John 16:7-15: "But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you..." The most text we have recording His actual ascension is Acts 1:9-11. We do know- or rather can surmise- that without His ascension the Holy Spirit would not have come. This would have severly limited the early church as is recorded in Acts- maybe better titled, "The Acts of the Holy Spirit". I don't have my notes with me on this topic to give a better answer at this time. Should you desire more on this, I know netbible.org has several good resources available. I hope this helps, BradK |
