Bible Question: How do I make God my best friend? |
Bible Answer: You should read the book of John. Specifically if you read John 15:14 where Jesus says"You are my friends if you keep on doing the things which I command you to do." (Amplified Bible) The question then becomes what is it that He commands me to do. Read John 14:5-15. Specifically in verse 11 Jesus says Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in me..., and in verse 6 He says "...I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; No one comes to the Father (God), Except by (through) Me. Seems pretty clear that to make God your best friend you must believe in Jesus as the Christ. Romans 10:9-20 Says "Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord an in your heart believe that God raised Him form the dead you will be saved. For with the heart a person believes and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God) and with the mouth he confesses(declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms (to others) his salvation. This is like Abraham who was called a friend of God, not because of His works, but because when God called Him, He obeyed. Hope this helps. God Bless you! |
