Subject: what does jesus ascension mean for me |
Bible Note: Aixen: __"It is interesting how we tend to think in terms of what there is in it for me."__ ....... Amen, Aixen! Well said. To your good list of why Christ ascended back into heaven, I would suggest adding the precious words our Lord used in His high priestly prayer, "I have glorified thee on the earth; I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do." [John 17:4]; and again on the Cross, "It is finished." [John 19:30]. In complete obedience to His Father, the Messiah, the Word who became flesh and dwelt among us, carried out His mission with sinless perfection. ...... When I hear the Word Faithers extol the joys of health and wealth in this world as "what's in it for me" something deep in my soul is repelled by the idea that Jesus Christ suffered and died so that man might have a well-tuned body and a well-filled purse! That is NOT why God gave His one and only Son! [cf. John 3:16]. --Hank |
