Bible Question (short): Where is the true translation? |
Question (full): Is this the true translation of Lord Jesus Christ's words? When I read the words as are written in many translations of the Holy bible and my own copies here at home, I instinctively knew Lord Jesus would NEVER had said to "leave her alone", Our Lord Jesus's nature is to draw to Him. Christ didn't say that even to satan. So ( thank the Lord for bible gateway resource)I researched the different tranclations of John 12:7 and found in Young's literal translation "suffer her" I understand this to mean -put up with her- This meaning is very different from "leave her alone" careless words can change the meaning of sentences. I told my feelings to my 12 year old daughter and her attitude was "so what! It's just words and leave her alone means.......( thnking process!)....leave her alone! In the battle between good and evil , a daily occurence, people are led , deceived, tricked into believing they are ALONE separated from God , no one to help them. That is often the aim of satan - to separate us from the love of God , or to trick us into thinking that. Our souls are susceptable to very subtle influences which sometimes go unnoticed. As Christians we must strive to stick as close as we can to Lord Jesus Christ and trust in Him, not our own selves. Can anyone tell me if in much earlier versions of King James translation (earlier than the current one)the words in John12:7 were translated as "suffer her"? |
