NASB | John 12:6 Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 12:6 Now he said this, not because he cared about the poor [for he had never cared about them], but because he was a thief; and since he had the money box [serving as treasurer for the twelve disciples], he used to pilfer what was put into it. |
Bible Question: Was Judas Iscariot a thief? |
Bible Answer: John 12:1-8 gives us an account where Jesus' feet were anointed by Mary. In this encounter, Judas speaks out about the wastefulness of Mary's actions. v6 gives us the explanation behind his actions. He was a thief and, in his role of treasurer for Jesus' travelling band, he often pilfered for his own gain. |
