NASB | John 12:6 Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 12:6 Now he said this, not because he cared about the poor [for he had never cared about them], but because he was a thief; and since he had the money box [serving as treasurer for the twelve disciples], he used to pilfer what was put into it. |
Bible Question:
John12:1-9 Reading 12:1-9I understand that Mary was a very strong Christian, she was humble, unselfish, her devotion of Jesus. How wonderful she was. Judas I see could crush Mary's spirit. He didn't like that Mary was using such a rich oitment. Judas just was blind with greed and had no love for Jesus. The one thing I can't understand is How Judas could cause other to question his Master's worth? |
Bible Answer: Greetings sweet! Judas was not causing anyone to question the Master's worth, but his remark illuminated the attitude of his heart toward the Lord. This is not unlike folks today who put service to others in place of service to the Lord. Blessings, mommapbs |
