Bible Answer: Hi, Cashly... Presumably you are talking about John 11:35? Jesus weeping was different than the weeping we see in verse 33. In verse 33 it speaks of a kind of ritualized wailing that was used in the Jewish culture in lamenting a person's death. The word in verse 35 uses a different Greek word meaning to shed tears. I suppose that Jesus is identifying with human suffering, both in the sorrow of death of His friend, the grief of his sisters, and a sorrow for the hardness of the hearts of the Jews. In Him, Doc |
