AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 11:35 Jesus wept. |
Subject: He wept not for their grief |
Bible Note: Greetings - Prov 9:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." As the God-Man, Did Jesus experience fear? I refer to His humanity expressed in Heb 2:14-18 and also His statement, "I and the Father are One" John 1:30 . . . As part of the Godhead, Jesus did not fear death as eternal separation from the Father . . . but standing before the tomb of Lazarus, I wonder if He looked ahead to the tomb of eternity where He would be separated eternally from those whom He loved and gave His life for? Might this be cause for Him to weep? This is a kind of fear co-exisitng with faith; faith in the promise of God that unbelievers will not enter His rest (Heb 3:11-12) Therefore, this is a fear based upon faith (as a sure thing to be believed) belonging to the Lord . . . Am I taking too great a liberty here? |
