NASB | John 10:30 "I and the Father are one." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 10:30 "I and the Father are One [in essence and nature]." |
Bible Question: Could you explain to me when Jesus said the Father and I are one. Is he refering to that they are both Spirits. |
Bible Answer: Hello Daily Bread, The passage is really referring to the fact that Both Father and Son are one in essence. The Greek further supports this as "are" is plural! The Nicene Creed- which dealt with this issue- spells this out when it states, "And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, Very God of Very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father by whom all things were made."
