Subject: What did Yeshua notice? |
Bible Note: Contextually, in v.46, Nathanael exhibits obvious skepticism to which Philip simply replies, "Come and see". In v.47, Yeshua states THE main distinguishing characteristic of Nathanael, likely a rare characteristic among fellow Jews. Before Yeshua's statement, the two had not met before, so obviously Nathanael wants to know how Yeshua would know this: "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you." (John 1:48) What did Yeshua "see" concerning Nathanel under the fig tree (before Philip called him)? |
