AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 1:48 Nathanael said to Jesus, "How do You know [these things about] me?" Jesus answered, "Before Philip called you, when you were still under the fig tree, I saw you." |
Bible Question: What about Jesus saying to Nathanael I saw you under the fig tree, caused Nathanael to say Rabbi, you are the Son of God, you are the King of Israel? I know the voice of God from heaven at Jesus' baptism said this is My Son. I know Philip pointed out Jesus as the one written of by Moses and the prophets so naturally the Messiah, the King of Israel. What happened under the Fig tree that caused Nathanael to say this? |
Bible Answer: The bible is not specific about what happened under he tree. But i think that he was amazed because Jesus saw him in the Spirit, or in a vision. Perhaps he was far away from where Jesus was at, and Jesus replied "you believe believe because I saw you under a fig tree, you will see greater things than this" notice how Jesus only metions that He saw him. It is as if Jesus is saying. "Because I saw you sitting there you believe I Am the Son of God, well you ain't seen nothing yet" |
