Subject: "Messiah" a reference to Deity? |
Bible Note: Hank, you are right. There were many who were annointed ones. Most Jews are still looking for the Annointed One promised (Dan 9:25-26). However, being the Messiah is about His humanity. I do not think the false ones claimed to be God. If He did not become man, He could not of fulfilled this prophecy, nor the one (Isa 61:1-2) He claimed (Luk 4:16-21). Psalm 2 is about His future, when the kings of the world come against Him. I think the passage in Daniel is too. He did not come as the Conquering One of the physical world. Peter linked Jesus as the Annointed One with Him as Diety, by calling Him the Son of God (Mat 16:16). Steve |
