Subject: Who believes the Bible? 2 Tim 3:16 |
Bible Note: Hi MJ, The John l:17 reference came from my initial answer. But you make a good point of there being a comparison of the two references. 2 Timothy 3:16, "All Scripture is inspired by (God) and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness." John 1:16, "For of (His) fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. v.17, For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ." The parentheses are mine for comparison. We know God in His fullness through this Man, of whom John said, "He who comes after me has a higher rank than I for He existed before me." Jesus is God and He was active in the Scriptures right from the beginning as we've seen already here in the forum by looking at Genesis 1:26. I'm interested to see that you say you believe the Bible and and then reference John 1:1 where it speaks of the Word Himself. This is a good thread along with its counterpart thread from Grace and Truth, to clear the air for the capitalization of these words. I understand and agree with the respect that Makarios shows by talking about the Word of God, although I would find it clearer for distinguishing the word from the Word if he said something like, "The Bible is the Holy Word of God." I believe that the bible is the word of God as prayon says, and also that it contains the word(s) of God. The bible is a book. The Holy Bible is the title of the book. I find the word "WORD" to be confusing. I believe that the Word was God as John 1:1 reads but I do not believe that the word itself is God. The Word is the one God who came in the flesh. Talk to me people; what do you think? Now if Grace and Truth care to give us their/his/her input, I give them another welcome with an apology if I answered too quickly or directly. (Are you listening Kalos or Radioman?):) Let's talk Bible. We all can be friends here even if we differ; especially over time with good communication. From the heart, Ray |
