Bible Question: Everyone desires to be loved and accepted. Problems arise when we look for these in the wrong places. What is the best way to convey the love of God and the importance of HIS approval to a person (esp. a teen) who is struggling with acceptance issues? |
Bible Answer: Momma, Do you pray with your children? Do you spend time reading the word of god with them? John and Proverbs are great places to start. The book of John speaks to me of God's love for us. Why would he send his son to die on the cross for us otherwise? Proverbs was Solomon at his greatest. (My opinion only.) By spending time in prayer and in the word, you can convey to your children how important it is that they have Him in their lives. You cannot make the decision for them but you can lead them to the water, offer them the bread of life. The book of John and the other Gospels for that matter will show also thatthe things Jesus taught were contrary to the teachings of the world. But we still MUST follow these teachings, regardless of what other people think. I am not an expert in the Bible, Momma, I do have a passion for Christ and hope that what I say will help. Do not conform to this world by being afraid to discipline your children when necessary. Do not be afraid to praise them when they desrve it. Nor should we be afraid to stand up for what is right. Too many Christian bow to pressure not "to offend" someone by being silent when the word and Christ tells us to stand up. Hopefully somethings I have said will help. God bless and keep you. Clay |
