Bible Question:
im new here and have a few questions. im trying to understand the bible and and am extreamly confused with all the different variations and conclusions to what it means. i know most people hate jehovas witnesses, but cant understand why, as all they are doing is stating their beliefs and backing it up with the scriptures.i know their bible is different slightly.why do people think that they are a cult? personally most of what they believe makes sense to me - like jesus being the son of god, and not god himself, and that there being no hell. after all there is confusion with the translations hades, hell etc and all have several meanings dont they? so who are we to say which meaning jesus ment? i dont know... im still searching for the truth and praying to god to give me understanding.this isnt ment to stir up and ill feelings by the way - im just confused with which way to go, what to believe, etc and was hoping somebody could help me out. also what are your views on dinosaurs, and how they fit into the bible? thank you |
Bible Answer: The Jehovah's Witnesses teach a different Jesus then the Bible teaches. They use a version of the Bible that is not a translation, but is a re-write, altered by men who neither translated from the original languages, nor were able to translate from the original languages. I do not hate JW's. They are in desparate need of salvation. There are various words translated as hell, but no matter: Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. The Lake of Fire is pretty specific, it is eternal torment, and there is not another way to translate this. Mat 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Jesus is "God with us." If your pray is honest and from the heart, God will show you the truth. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him. Do you believe that Jesus died as payment of the penalty for your sin, though sinless Himself? Do you believe that Jesus rose from the grave, defeating death? Do you believe that Jesus is Lord of all, including you, so that you are ready to serve Him? You can die with Him, be raised with Him, and live with Him, if that is what you want.
