Bible Question: Why did Jesus not let the man say good by to his family and those at home? |
Bible Answer: Luke 9:61 Another also said, "I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say good-bye to those at home." Luke 9:62 But Jesus said to him, "No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." Jesus gives his reason for not letting him say "goodbye." So I guess the question is, "What does His reason mean?" I don't know what He meant, but apparently He saw the man's wanting to say "goodbye" as really a looking back after he had put his hand to the plow. Jesus knows our hearts, you know. I suppose if the man's motives were simply to say "goodbye," Jesus would have permitted it. Maybe the man's motives in wanting to say "goodbye" showed a lack of commitment to the kingdom. What do you think, Prayon? |
