Bible Question: Explain John 2:23-25 |
Bible Answer: Hi supanlee, How long do you think God could come visit with us and still put up with us? Jesus the Son came as "God with us". The people saw the greatness of God, but the Son of Man and the purpose for His coming was not understood by them. Luke 9:41b, "O unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I/ be with you, and put up with you? Bring your son here." And while he was still approaching, the demon dashed him to the ground, and threw him into a convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father. And they were all amazed at the greatness of God. But while everyone was marveling at all that (He) WAS DOING, He said to His disciples, 'Let these words sink into your ears; for the Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men.' But they did not understand this statement, and it was concealed from them so that they might not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask Him about this statement." These were the things that this (Man) was doing. If the people were to truly know who this One was, then His purpose of coming to die for them would not have come about. But now, looking back after the cross we can know Jesus as the God/Man. John 2:23, "Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name, beholding His signs which (He) WAS DOING. But Jesus, on His part, was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men, and because He did not need anyone to bear witness concerning man, for He/Himself knew what was in man." The God/Man knew what was in man. So we can see the things that He did as Man and also the signs that He was doing which showed that He was God. From the heart, Ray |
