Subject: What does it mean to "fall away"? |
Bible Note: budderfligh, Good day to you and welcome to the forum. You've received some very solid council on this. While I don't view myself as a biblical scholar and we do have some here on the forum. But one of the things they all have in common is that they all have deep godly and biblical conviction about what they believe and teach. Meaning they strive to let God's Word speak for itself. They fit thier believing around and in God's Word says. Now none of us is perfect. Our relationship with God is a daily thing. It's something we gotta nuture on a daily basis. 2 Timothy 2:15. Look at 2 Peter 1:3-12 as a matter of fact read the whole chapter. This did allot to nurture my faith in my early days as a disciple of Jesus Christ almost thirteen years ago. Being backslidden, falling away, or losing ones salvation I don't know. Read Acts chapter 2 and Romans also. This I do know, that those who have truly made our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Lord of thier live it's not a matter of losing something. I say this because there is no power human or otherwise that can take you out of the hand of God. Now with that said one must take into account that we make choices everday. Good, bad and indifferent. We can choose to walk away from God and that happens more than I even care to admit. But we can repent. 1 John 1:9. Unfortunately people can reach a point that they will not change no matter what they are told or encouraged with. I want to highly encourage you to read 2 Peter 1 it say much about what it takes to nuture and cultivate our relationship with God. Take heart, God is faithfull even when we're not. In Him, lionheart |
