NASB | Luke 6:9 And Jesus said to them, "I ask you, is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to destroy it?" |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Luke 6:9 Then Jesus said to them, "I ask you directly: Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do evil, to save a life or to destroy it?" |
Bible Question (short): Why only two options? |
Question (full): Jesus asks if it is lawful to do good or to do harm, as if those are the only two options. Is He saying that by not acting (healing the man with the withered hand) He would be committing evil? Why is there no evaluation of the option to do nothing (not heal the man). This would not be "good" but it would not really be "evil" either. Any thoughts would help! |
