Bible Question: thanks for the verses but what if it is not your enemy but a relative like say your mother in law. She was really horrible in the beginning, during the wedding preps, on our wedding day and during the pregnancy until she found out that it was a girl instead of a boy and now i guess she is trying to move forward. I have talk to God about this and i know that i dont have to take that kind of treatment and that i need time to heal the wounds that have been put there. So i have stopped trying to have a relationship with her and now she doesn't seem to understand why. She says that she is a christian but doesnt understand why i am hurt by her. I love her with God's love but i just dont want to go through anymore with her. Where in the bible does it say that i can love someone but not have a relationship with them? i remember my old pastor giving a sermon on that but it was a few years ago. please help me to explain this to her with God's word. |
Bible Answer: Dear Chrisatissac, Sister(?, I guess), I think it is more appropriate for you to seek advice from pastor, elders or godly women at your church. However, I have a few points to make. 1/ Jesus asked us to love even our enemies, what should be the measure of love to take when the one against us is our relatives. 2/ From what you described, you are citing some past events (I think you had been severely hurt) which I can sense your BITTERNESS. That is not good. We cannot love anyone with bitterness in our heart. Bitterness also blinds our sight to know God's will. 3/ Yes, you are right. How can you love someone without a relationship (or link) with him/her! This is your trial. 4/ Please let God's Word speak to you first. I am afraid I did not help much. I will keep you in my prayers, dear Chrisatissac. Shalom Azure |
