Bible Question:
What is the meaning of this verse; If devil also has the authority to raise kings/kingdoms/make governments? "And he(devil) led him(Jesus) up, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, To thee will I give all this authority, and the glory of them: for it hath been delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it".Luke 4:5-6 (ASV) |
Bible Answer: Dear conqueror101, Satan's sway over the world is a matter of usurpation, not actual authority -- which is held and granted by God alone. When men do not submit to rightful authority of their Creator, they render themselves up to Satan. As "the Prince of this World" he manipulates men through the many aspects of sin. Remember, the devil starts with a half-truth or a distorted truth and builds up a deception from that foundation. Just as he did with Eve in the garden, so he did with Jesus in the wilderness.
