NASB | Luke 3:17 "His winnowing fork is in His hand to thoroughly clear His threshing floor, and to gather the wheat into His barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Luke 3:17 "His winnowing fork is in His hand to thoroughly clear His threshing floor, and to gather the wheat (believers) into His barn (kingdom); but He will burn up the chaff (the unrepentant) with unquenchable fire." |
Bible Question: Thank you Steve for responding, but in Luke the wheat is saved and the chaff is burned. In verse 8 John tells his listeners to "bring forth fruits in keeping with repentance"; like, let your works reveal your repentance. Then the separating of the wheat from the chaff could be similar to gold, silver, precious stones vs wood, hay and stubble that is destroyed. Oh well, I have lots more questions. |
Bible Answer: Jatfla, you could be right. No matter, first we must be saved, else we will burn. Then, we need to do works that will endure. Read Eph 2:8-10. Steve |
