Bible Question:
Regarding the afterlife, why does it appears that Eccl. 9:2-10 denies anything after death? This scripture seems in direct conflict with the message of eternity for Christians whose names appear in the Book of Life. Can anyone help me to correctly discern what seems to be a contradiction? |
Bible Answer: Greetings nimrod2. Sheol was the fate of all people prior to the ressurection of Jesus Christ. Please read the account of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-26. Jesus clearly indicates that Sheol, the place of the physically departed has two sides: torments and Abraham's bosom which would indeed be paradise when Jesus entered! Eternity is a sure thing for everyone. We have the option of where to spend it! Rev 20:10 tells us of one option: "the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. And Rev 20:15 says "if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." But to those who have chosen Christ, eternal life WITH God is awaiting . . . Choose wisely. I hope this clears up any confusion for you! mommapbs |
