Bible Question:
Hello, friends, Do we know the original manuscript punctuation, as to the position of the comma? Truly I say to you today, you shall be with Me in Paradise. OR Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise. My King James also has the comma after the 'thee', and 'Today' is capitalized. My hope is to be absent from the body and present with the Lord(II Cor5:8). I don't like the idea of my soul sleeping in the corner of a casket down in the cold cold ground. thanks, Rr ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
Bible Answer: Dear justone, Welcome to the forum! As a new forum participant, you should know that the keyword search feature and the Notes on Verse feature will uncover a huge amount of valuable information. You'll find that any given question may well have been asked many times. Your point on the translator's decision regarding the comma has been discussed often. After using these research tools, if you have a question or comment that hasn't occurred in the forum before, feel free to ask away. By the way, the doctrine of soul sleep has been refuted on the forum many times. Campbellites and others come along frequently trying to espouse that doctrine. In Him, Doc |
